City of Kingsville
WEBSITE DESIGN
Client Overview
Located in South Texas along the Gulf of Mexico, the City of Kingsville is a growing community of nearly 30,000 people with humble beginnings in the ranching and railroad industries dating back to its founding in 1912. Kingsville is also home to a leading public research university, Texas A&M University-Kingsville, a Naval Air Station, and several Fortune 500 industrial companies.
In 2012, HRMG, then known as Hi-Res Creative, was first tasked by the City of Kingsville’s newly created tourism department to overhaul the original CVB’s website. Throughout the years that followed to date, HRMG has been delighted to support the growth of the CVB and municipality by developing their visions with each new iteration of their respective websites. HRMG strives to improve upon its web presence each round by utilizing new lessons learned while managing the needs of the city’s 16 departments under changing leadership over the years, all while serving over 70 clients locally and nationwide.
Project Overview
In 2019, the City of Kingsville approached HRMG to overhaul the outdated web presence (which was originally developed by our team in 2015) as the previous website no longer reflected the mission or technological needs of the city as a whole. Following a comprehensive review, HRMG rendered a scope of work for review which was approved by then-interim City Manager and Finance Director Deborah Balli. The project’s design review process initially saw lengthy delays due to COVID-19 but was successfully launched to the public in January 2021.
Design and Content Management
Over the course of a year, HRMG designed and developed a modern website solution on WordPress while working alongside the Technology department director to facilitate content changes and improvements within each department. Following industry standards such as Bootstrap and integrating the latest frameworks like Elementor, our team developed an easily manageable web presence with over 306 pages and laid out navigation in a more ideal manner using Google Analytics behavior flow data. Further efforts to improve the website were made with SEO integrations such as Yoast SEO Premium and automated analytics reporting.
Server Technologies and Web Hosting
As with all HRMG websites, the website was built on LiteSpeed (a modern replacement for Apache webserver), the latest in web server technology for faster load times, and hosts a licensed cPanel platform with GUARD security and RAID SSD storage. The end result is a streamlined website that is easy to navigate with high resolution .webp formatted images, improved load times, and highly optimized content.
HRMG appreciates every opportunity to develop client relationships and is equally invested in client projects, their communities, and their success. We look forward to working with the City of Kingsville in the future to make additional advancements in developing its online presence.
