Since its inception three years ago, the annual iDiscovery Safari career fair has gained in both popularity and attendance. Sponsored by the Education to Employment (E2E) Partners of the Coastal Bend, the event is billed as a fun way for visitors to learn about different career paths through games and interactive sessions with real working professionals in a variety of fields. Individuals, community organizations and academic institutions all take part in the collective effort to help young people be excited about choosing a career and furthering their educational success.
As a relatively new venture, iDiscovery Safari relies heavily on the help of both donors and volunteers to coordinate and produce the event. Having worked with the E2E in the past, Hi-Res Creative has volunteered for the event each year since 2013, but this year called for a little something extra. Despite it’s best efforts, iDiscovery was in need of a fresh look as well as some promotional pushes across several different platforms.
As a group that values the importance of a strong educational foundation and lifelong learning, we began to think of ways to brand the event as a fun way to learn about careers. Playing on the theme of discovery, our team began with the event’s official website. We produced a more playful site featuring bright colors and a cast of animated characters to help set the tone and idea for the event. Streamlined navigation and custom content also made getting information about fair easier for the general public. We also produced a television commercial with animated video and voiceover as well as radio advertisements in both English and Spanish. The event’s Facebook page was also lacking in both updates and content, so in the days leading up to the event, Hi-Res offered social media support by posting status updates and other information to inform area schools, educational organizations and the public about its many highlights.
